So, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to announce my participation in a blogathon called, “The Great Recasting“, co-hosted by two charming young ladies in the classic blogosphere, Natalie at In the Mood and Rianna at Frankly My Dear. Instead of giving my variation of what this blogathon is not, I’ll simply quote an abridged version of Natalie’s on what it is:
1. Pick a movie that was made in between 1966 and today.
2. Change the year of production (i.e. 1953)
3. Choose new leads from Classic Hollywood
4. Choose a new director from Classic Hollywood
5. Explain why you think it would work
Pretty simple, and super fun right? Well, to be honest I’ve watched very few post-1966 films, which makes it either very hard for me to choose a film, or very easy.
I was searching for a film that fit this post-1966 business since yesterday, and finally decided on a Film/TV Series if you will, called Winds of War (1983). Epic I know, so I’ll have to narrow it down a bit. Reason I chose this particular film was for two reasons. Firstly, it was one of the few films I have actually watched, liked, and indeed is post-1966. Secondly, the 1940s is my favorite time period (hey, they’re the “greatest generation” after all!), and Winds of War takes place exactly during this time period, WWII.
Now, we do have Robert Mitchum playing a major character (foreground in poster), but in the 1940s, he would have hardly fit the role – which makes this blogathon all the more scintillating.
And finally, I want to thank our gracious hosts, Natalie and Rianna for hosting this blogathon. I can’t wait to start writing on this, and look forward to reading every one else’s posts!
By the way, whoever photo-shopped the banners for this blogathon did an amazing job!

Congratz to Nat and Rianna, it’s an amazing idea. Just too bad that I don’t have a blog to participate hahaha.
You should join in Carmen! If you’re not too busy this summer, you can always use the “Write an Article” form
